Kochi: Actors Pakru and Saju Kodiyan expressed their shock in the sudden demise of their long-time friend and colleague Abi, who died following a drastic dip in blood platelet count, here in Kochi.
“Abi had been a superstar in mimicry when I was still a college student,” said Pakru, “His versatility and talent are irreplaceable. Abi has acted in more than fifty movies. He was already an established actor when superstar Dileep and actor-comedian Nadirshah began their career as junior actors. But Malayalam cinema didn't offer him what he deserved. He had everything what a superstar needed- skill, experience, flexibility and even a very handsome figure. But cinema is a world of uncertainties. Abi proved that stardom is nothing but a game of luck.”
Pakru said that Abi's mimicry cassettes have been textbooks for a whole generation of aspirants. He determined the course of Malayalam mimicry in its journey to popularity. He gave us our beloved Aamina Thatha whom his entire successors competed to perform on stage. And then he took nothing in return. He died as a junior actor, Pakru said.
