After 'Bhallaladeva' Daggubati in TVPM to begin his journey as Marthanda Varma

Rana Daggubati visited the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple on Sunday morning to seek blessings and made offerings to the deity.

Thiruvananthapuram: Rana Daggubati, who won millions of hearts with his terrific performance as Bhallaladeva in S S Rajamouli's Baahubali series, will now don the role of Marthanda Varma, the celebrated ruler of erstwhile Travancore.

As part of the new film, the Telugu superstar was in Thiruvananthapuram, to seek the blessings of Sree Padmanabhaswamy and the royal family members of Thiruvithamkoor.

Rana Daggubati reached the state capital from Hyderabad on Saturday night. He visited the temple on Sunday morning, sought blessings and made offerings to the deity. He also did a round of the area. Later, he dropped in at Kowdiar palace, and was welcomed by Pooyam Thirunal Gauri Parvathi Bhai and Adithya Varma.

He spent an hour in the palace, listening to the life and times of Marthanda Varma in detail. The royal family members presented Rana a book that contains the history of the kingdom.

Director of the film 'Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma: The King of Travancore' K Madhu, producer Seven Arts Mohan and scriptwriter Robin Thirumala accompanied Rana. 

"It is a blessing to be part of such a film,” said Rana, who will return to Hyderabad on Monday.
