Actor Prithviraj’s comment that movies like 'Ranam' would not be successful in the box office has irked many including Biju Lawson, one of the producers. Earlier, his co-actor Rahman, who played a significant role in the recently removed movie, too had reacted against Prithviraj’s another comment about the film.

Prithviraj had said at a recent event: “My heart constantly asks me to try different things. Sometimes it would succeed, and sometimes it may not. I clearly know that movies like ‘Koode’ would become successful, while the ones like ‘Ranam’ may not. But I must try. If I don’t, then I would feel bad when I think about it 10 years later.” He added that he likes to experiment in movies and films like 'Ranam' was one of them.

The film producer, meanwhile, reacted on seeing Prithviraj's another remark about 'Ranam' that “the response from the audience was average.” Lawson wrote, “To experiment on this movie, he should have used his money, not the producer’s money. The movie is average but when it is running in theatre's he shouldn’t say this to public.”

Both made the remarks in the comments' section of Rahman's initial Facebook post. The veteran actor had posted, without directly referring to Prithviraj’s views on experimentation, that cinema was the king that gave him everything, and if someone criticised it, even it was his own little brother (implying Prithviraj), he would be greatly hurt.

A discussion followed in the comments section, and one of the users said that the film was awesome, but Prithviraj made the 'average' comment that upset the producer.
