Aishwarya Rai Bachchan brings Indian royalty to Cannes in saree and sindoor

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has long been regarded as the face of true Indian beauty on the global stage. Going back to her cultural roots, the former Miss World graced the Cannes red carpet this year in the quintessential look of a traditional Indian married woman — wearing a saree and sindoor.

The actress left everyone in awe as she stepped out in a classic ivory handloom saree adorned with golden embellishments. She paired it with a full-sleeved matching blouse and a drape-style dupatta. Adding a regal touch to her ensemble, Aishwarya chose a bold red choker, complemented by a stunning ruby neckpiece, matching earrings, and a statement ring that sparkled as she waved at the cameras.

Her makeup was equally striking. She wore a dark lipstick with a red tint, light blush, soft eyeshadow, and a thick eyeliner. Her hair was left open, with a deep line of sindoor prominently visible in the parting, reinforcing her homage to tradition.

With this appearance, Aishwarya once again paid a graceful tribute to her Indian heritage. Some online users even commented that her sindoor was a symbolic nod to India’s 'Operation Sindoor'.

Over the years, the 'Dhoom 2' actress has consistently set trends with her Cannes appearances. This year marked her 22nd time at the prestigious film festival, where she continues to represent as a global ambassador for L'Oréal Paris. Aishwarya first made her Cannes debut in 2002, when Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Devdas', co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit, was showcased at the festival.

While many of her looks have been widely praised, she has also faced criticism in recent years for some of her fashion choices. Nevertheless, Aishwarya continues to command attention and admiration, making her a lasting icon on the international red carpet.
