The third instalment of ‘Aadu’, one of Malayalam cinema’s most loved franchises, is currently in production. ‘Aadu 3’ is being made as a grand fantasy entertainer — and this time, in 3D. Director Midhun Manuel Thomas recently shared a video from the massive set built in Palakkad.
The video also features snippets of pre production work and a few scenes from the first two films. Along with Jayasurya, the cast includes Vinayakan, Vijay Babu, Saiju Kurup, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bhagath Manuel, Sunny Wayne, Indrans, Srinda, Bijukuttan, Sudhi Koppa, Harikrishnan and a few surprise names in key roles.
The film is being produced under the banners of Kavya Film Company, headed by Venu Kunnappilly, and Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House. It is slated for a Christmas release.
Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, the first ‘Aadu: Oru Bheekara Jeevi Aanu’ released in February 2015. A comedy road movie featuring Jayasurya, Bhagath Manuel, Saiju Kurup, Dharmajan Bolgatty and Vijay Babu, it was not a major theatrical success but later became a cult favourite through television and other platforms.
Encouraged by this popularity, the makers went ahead with a sequel. Released in 2017, ‘Aadu 2’ became a huge hit, reportedly collecting around ₹50 crore at the box office.
