Vijay Sethupathi denies allegations of sexual assault, casting couch claims

Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has been embroiled in a massive controversy after a woman accused him of sexual misconduct. The controversy was sparked by a post that appeared on the X account named Ramya Mohan. She says that drug abuse and casting couch culture are not a joke in Kollywood and claims that a woman she knows is now in a rehabilitation centre because of Vijay Sethupathi.

The X user alleged that the actor who had been harassing the woman for years acts like a saint on social media. “Kollywood’s drug and casting couch culture is not a joke. A girl I know was dragged into a world she never signed up for. She’s now in a rehab centre. Drugs, manipulation, and transactional exploitation disguised as industry norm. Vijay Sethupathi has offered Rs 2 lakh for caravan favours, Rs 50,000 for ‘drives’ and acts like a saint on social media. She was used by him for years. This isn’t one story. It's many, and the media worship these men like they are saints. The drug – sex nexus is real. Not a joke,” Ramya Mohan wrote on her X account.

However, Vijay Sethupathi denied the allegation in an interview with Deccan Chronicle, calling it baseless and ‘filthy.’. He also said anyone who knows him would ‘not take the situation seriously.’ He also went on to call the person who raised the allegations an attention-seeker.

Meanwhile, Ramya deleted the first post after it blew into a major controversy, and also to respect the victim’s privacy.
