He valued friendship, lived with discipline: Kalabhavan Shajohn pays tribute to Navas

Actor Kalabhavan Shajohn has shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Kalabhavan Navas, recalling not just his talent but also his discipline and unwavering commitment to friendship.
Shajohn revealed that his own journey at Kalabhavan began as Navas’s stand-in. “When Navas became busy with films like ‘Mattupetti Machan’, I was brought in as his replacement. That’s how my association with Kalabhavan started,” he said. “Eventually, I began performing alongside Navas. What began as a professional connection slowly grew into a genuine friendship.”

He also fondly recalled their close-knit group, which included artists like Kottayam Naseer. “We had a little circle, and it was always filled with laughter and light moments. Navas had a wonderful sense of humour and a warm personality that brought everyone together.”

What stood out most about Navas, according to Shajohn, was his lifestyle and values. “He really looked after his health, stayed away from unhealthy habits, and above all, he was someone who cherished and protected friendships. Even now, it’s hard to accept that he’s gone.”
