Veteran actor Mukesh paid tribute to Shanawas, remembering him as a respected figure who left a lasting impression on those entering the Malayalam film industry. “Shanawas was someone we looked up to with reverence and amazement during our early days in cinema,” Mukesh said in a condolence message, shared alongside a photograph taken with Shanawas during his recent illness.
“Back then, meeting him in Chennai was a moment of great pride for us,” he recalled. “He was, after all, the son of Malayalam cinema’s legendary actor, Prem Nazir. Even when I visited him recently while he was bedridden, he spoke with confidence about returning to the film world. His unexpected passing is deeply saddening.”
Shanawas had been undergoing treatment for kidney and heart-related ailments for the past four years. His condition worsened late Monday night, and although he was rushed to the hospital, he sadly passed away.
