Having spent part of his childhood in Ahmedabad, Unni said Modi has been a familiar figure to him since his days as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.

Unni Mukundan is set to play Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming biopic ‘Maa Vande’. The actor shared his excitement about stepping into the role, calling it both overwhelming and deeply inspiring.
Having spent part of his childhood in Ahmedabad, Unni said Modi has been a familiar figure to him since his days as Gujarat’s Chief Minister. He recalled meeting the Prime Minister in April 2023, an encounter he described as unforgettable. “His political journey is extraordinary, but in this film we want to explore the man beyond the statesman, especially his profound bond with his mother, Heeraben Modi,” the actor wrote while extending birthday wishes to Modi on his 75th birthday.

Unni also remembered a personal moment from their interaction, when Modi told him in Gujarati, “Jhukvanu nahi” (Never bow down). The actor said those words have remained a source of strength for him through life’s challenges.

Directed by Kranthi Kumar C.H., ‘Maa Vande’ will trace Modi’s life story, from his childhood to his rise as the country’s leader. The film will also highlight his deep relationship with his mother, who played a pivotal role in shaping his personality and spirit.

The makers have promised that the biopic will be mounted on a large canvas with international-standard VFX and the expertise of some of India’s top technicians. Produced under the banner of Silver Cast Creations, ‘Maa Vande’ is planned as a pan-Indian release in multiple languages, including an English version.
