Mohanlal’s blockbuster 'Ravanaprabhu' is set to storm theatres in a remastered 4K visuals and Dolby Atmos sound version. Joining the ongoing re-release wave of Malayalam cinema, Aashirvad Cinemas announced the re-release through Instagram on Tuesday. The post featured a poster titled ‘Singham Thambi Singham’ with the caption, “The epic reloading.”
Released in 2001, Ravanaprabhu marked Ranjith’s directorial debut and served as the sequel to the cult classic 'Devasuram'. Mohanlal appeared in dual roles as Mangalassery Neelakandan and his son Karthikeyan.
The film also featured an ensemble cast including Vasundhara Das, Revathi, Innocent, Napoleon, Vijayaraghavan, N F Varghese, Sai Kumar, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Jagadish, Sukumari, and Manju Pillai. Antony Perumbavoor produced the film under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner.
During its original theatrical run, Ravanaprabhu grossed over ₹15 crore, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2001. Mohanlal’s re-released films have consistently drawn strong audience responses. Recent re-releases such as 'Chotta Mumbai', 'Spadikam' and 'Devadoothan' were successful at the box office, fuelling anticipation for Ravanaprabhu’s return on October 10.
