Prithviraj Sukumaran’s sensible take on the audience’s right to criticise has gone viral on social media. He was speaking at the audio launch event of his upcoming movie 'Vilayat Buddha' at Lulu Mall in Kochi. He acknowledged the Malayali audience’s part in moulding his career, winning hearts on the internet.
“You raised me as an actor, so you have the right to criticise me. All of you have gathered here at Lulu Mall for this event because of the love and expectations you have for me. It is the Malayali audience who raised me and you have every right to criticise me or point out my faults. So, I accept all of them with respect,” the actor said, adding that he takes criticisms from the audience pretty seriously.
His words have been receiving immense love on the social media with many appreciating his matured attitude towards criticism. “The actors of this generation can maturely handle things. This maturity comes from experiencing both success and failure in equal measures. An actor should know the pulse of the audience, and if you do, then your words will come out like this,” a user commented.
Prithviraj has been at the receiving end of the audience criticisms from the beginning of his career itself. He was often dubbed as an actor with airs for his statements made outside movies as well as for his choice of characters. However, Prithviraj managed to shed that image over the past two decades, gratefully accepting criticism and emerging successful not only as an actor but also a director and producer.
