Kristen Stewart has said she would be more than happy to step behind the camera for a reboot of ‘Twilight’, the 2008 vampire romance that catapulted her to global fame. Speaking about the possibility, the Hollywood actor said she would ideally want a generous budget and strong backing from fans to take on the project, according to ‘Variety’.

In an interview with ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Stewart reflected fondly on the filmmakers who shaped the franchise. She praised director Catherine Hardwicke as well as Chris Weitz and the other directors who followed, saying each of them brought something distinct to the films. Stewart described their approach as personal, slightly eccentric, and rooted in a moment when none of them quite knew what the phenomenon would grow into. “Sure, I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it. I’m committed,” she said.

Stewart starred in the ‘Twilight’ series alongside Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. The original film went on to spawn four sequels — ‘New Moon’ (2009), ‘Eclipse’ (2010), and ‘Breaking Dawn: Part 1’ and ‘Breaking Dawn: Part 2’, released in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Together, the franchise earned more than $3 billion at the global box office.

While Stewart appears open to revisiting the world of Forks, Pattinson has previously expressed mixed feelings about his experience on the franchise. In a 2022 interview with ‘GQ’, he admitted to frequent frustration on set, saying the studio often clashed with his vision for a darker, more stylised take on the story.
Stewart’s comments come shortly after she made her directorial debut with ‘The Chronology of Water’, marking a new chapter in her career as a filmmaker.
