It’s yet another weekend, and movie buffs can look forward to watching some of the latest releases that have finally arrived on OTT platforms. Here’s a list of films to make your binge-watching experience better.
Maa Ka Sum (Hindi)
An eight-episode dramedy built around numbers and nuance, the series centres on Agastya (Mihir Ahuja), a 19-year-old prodigy who approaches life with the precision of a formula. Convinced that even emotions can be decoded and optimised, he sets out on an unusual quest: to engineer the perfect partner for his mother, Vinita (Mona Singh), through what he calls Project Mom. But as his carefully constructed logic collides with the messiness of real relationships, Agastya is forced to confront a truth he hadn’t accounted for. People don’t follow patterns, and the heart rarely plays by the rules.
Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from April 3.
Sitaare Zameen Par (Hindi)
An official adaptation of the 2018 Spanish film Champions, Sitaare Zameen Par follows Gulshan (Aamir Khan), a brash and self-absorbed basketball coach whose life begins to unravel after a drunk driving incident. As part of his punishment, he is assigned to train a team of players with disabilities for an upcoming tournament. What starts off as an obligation he resents soon turns into an experience that challenges his outlook, forcing him to rethink not just the game, but his own sense of purpose and empathy.
Streaming on SonyLIV from April 3.
Avatar: Fire and Ash (English)
The newest chapter in Avatar pushes the saga into darker territory, as James Cameron expands the conflict beyond familiar ground. The story follows the Sully family as they confront a fierce new threat—the volcanic Ash People, led by Varang, who have formed a dangerous alliance with the Resources Development Administration.
At its emotional core is Neytiri, grappling with the growing danger around her and her instinct to protect her family at all costs. Running parallel is Spider’s evolving identity, as his biological transformation adds another layer of tension. Together, these threads shape a visually ambitious chapter that leans into grief, survival, and the cost of war.
Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from March 31.
Valathu Vashathe Kallan (Malayalam)
The story centres on Antony (Biju Menon), a police officer navigating the delicate balance between personal struggles and professional duties, and Samuel (Joju George), a devoted father in search of his missing daughter, Irene. While the premise hints at a classic investigative thriller, Joseph takes a distinctive approach: rather than emphasising procedural details, the film dives into the moral dilemmas and emotional landscapes of its characters.
Currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
