The Onam box office race appears to be tilting in favour of Girish A D’s ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’, with the Nivin Pauly-starrer showing a stronger trend in bookings and audience response compared with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Khalifa’.

Both films are currently competing for the top spot among the season’s major Malayalam releases, but ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ has been gaining momentum since its release. Social media has been abuzz with viewers calling the film the Onam winner, with its steady bookings adding weight to the positive word of mouth.

The difference in current booking trends is particularly notable. According to BookMyShow data, ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ sold around 17,420 tickets on the platform in the last 24 hours, while ‘Khalifa’ recorded approximately 1,980 ticket sales during the same period.

Meanwhile, ‘Khalifa’, directed by Vysakh, has seen its theatrical earnings decline for the third consecutive day. The Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer earned an estimated ₹1.90 crore net in India on Saturday, with 1,340 shows across the country.
