Suchitra Mohanlal recalls how she told her family she wanted to marry Mohanlal

Suchitra Mohanlal has opened up about her decision to marry actor Mohanlal and her life after marriage, recalling how she was the one who first expressed her interest in marrying him.

In an interview with Can Channel Media, Suchitra said their families were closely acquainted when she first met Mohanlal at a wedding. She recalled approaching him as a fan and taking a photograph with him, though she has never received a copy of it.

She later told her family that she wanted to marry Mohanlal. There was no opposition from her family, and she suggested that the proposal be taken forward through actor Sukumari, whom her father knew well.

Recalling her father’s advice before the marriage, Suchitra said he had cautioned her about marrying someone from the film industry. He had explained that Mohanlal’s shooting schedules could keep him away from home for several days and advised her to be prepared for that aspect of married life. He also told her to think carefully about the decision and warned that he would not take her back home if she returned upset about the difficulties of being married to an actor.

Suchitra said she has no complaints about Mohanlal as a husband. His shooting schedules mean they sometimes go several days without seeing each other, but she said she has accepted that as part of his profession.

She also recalled an interesting conversation between her father and Mohanlal after their marriage. According to Suchitra, her father once told the actor that he was spoiling her by taking such good care of her. Mohanlal responded by asking whether he should not take care of her as well as, or even better than, her father had.
Suchitra added that Mohanlal has always given her the respect she deserves as his wife.
