Kochi: Amid the controversies over some actors' stance on the recently held Kerala state assembly polls, the annual general body of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) was held here on Sunday.

Actors Jagadeesh and Salim Kumar who had questioned the association's stand on the election in Pathanapuram constituency skipped the meeting.

Meanwhile, confusion prevailed over the resignation of Salim Kumar from the collective. While the actor said he had tendered resignation, the office-bearers said they have not received it.

Difference of opinion in the association came out in the open after AMMA vice president actor Mohanlal attended a campaign meeting for Ganesh Kumar in Pathanapuram. It was reported that Mohanlal's act was against AMMA's decision that actors should stay away from campaign rallies in Pathanapuram since all the three major candidates in the constituency were members of the association.

Jagadeesh contested on Congress ticket while BJP fielded Bheeman Reghu. However, it was Ganesh Kumar, contested as LDF-backed independent candidate, who emerged victorious.
