After facing a lackluster stint for sometime, actor Asif Ali has now bounced back in full energy. He had some relief with the success of his recent film Anuraga Karikkin Vellam in which he shared the screen space with Biju Menon. His latest release Kavi Udheshichathu is now picking up in the collection chart. It seems a few flops have made Asif a new man. He talks about how he struggled to survive the tough phase.

'Failure is stepping stone to success'

With each failure, the fear in me was rising. I feared about taking up each project and initiative. But I knew fear could be a hindrance in the journey ahead. Every time I failed, I asked myself what went wrong, where can I improve and how can I change. All the failures taught me many things and to see everything from an outer perspective.

When I listen to a script and find it good, I sign it immediately. But there occurred certain instances, when only after the shooting began that I got to know the movie was not going by the script as it was narrated to me. However, I avoided to get involved in any kind of arguments and rather proceeded to do what I agreed to do. In five years, I did about 35 movies out of which there are many that I regret doing.

'Survival of the fittest'

That is what my mind is right now telling me. There were many times when I literally failed both in my career and life. Nothing really worked out in whatever I did. If Karikkin Vellam had not met with success, I had decided to stay away from the industry and a take a break from cinema. I did that movie with that decision. I wanted to change the image I had till that point of time. But surviving was really tough. And now, it's time to fly high.
