Alappzuha: The ruling LDF on Thursday retained the Chengannur assembly by a thumping margin of over 20,000 votes.
Saji Cheriyan, CPM's Alappuzha district secretary, had maintained a steady lead from the beginning, and emerged victorious in a hard fought triangular contest between the three fronts - LDF, UDF and NDA. The ruling front was able to make strong gains in the UDF and BJP bastions. Read in Malayalam
