Web series and YouTube videos have become extremely popular during the lockdown days when the theatres were closed down. Actor Jijo Jacob whose comedy web series is a hit is a familiar face to the social media users. The actor opens up about his life and career and also about his new house.

Memory house

Jijo hails from Thammanam in Ernakulam, Kerala. Besides his parents, Jijo has a younger brother. His father was a corporation worker. However, he quit his job after he fell ill. His mother is a homemaker. Jijo says he grew up facing hardships.

“I loved acting from childhood. I think it runs in the family as my mother used to act. It was she who taught me dialogues for the plays. Soon, I became familiar with acting and make-up. Moreover, my grandfather was a chavittunadakam artist. I may have inherited his gene as well. I didn’t study after plus two due to financial crisis in the family. I then began doing odd jobs to earn money. After sometime, I did a course in make-up. I worked as a make-up assistant in many movies,” says Jijo.

Kayamkulam Kochunni and the new house

Jijo had worked as a make-up assistant in the big budget Nivin Pauly starrer Kayamkulam Kochunni. He says he had worked continuously for around four years in that movie. He had saved some money from his remuneration and had availed a loan to build a new house in 2018. Jijo says he was the happiest man on the day of the house warming ceremony.

“It was during that time that a friend of mine planned to start a Youtube channel and a comedy web series. He offered me a role in it. Though I was a bit skeptical to come in front of the camera from the world of make-up, I finally said ‘yes’. Anyways, I am happy that the audience has received it well. Now, the location of the web series is my house itself,” says Jijo.

Dream

Jijo says people have begun recognizing him and often share their opinions with him. “I wish to be an actor who is loved by everyone. I did minor roles in three movies. I want to do good roles in many more movies,” Jijo concludes.
