This colonial Kozhikode house in 10 cents impresses with classy ambience

It was quite a challenge building a beautiful and comfortable house in the ‘L’ shaped plot that Anwar, an expatriate, owns at Malikadavil in Kozhikode, Kerala. The elevation of this house features a fabulous blend of colonial and contemporary styles.

Designed in 2600 sqft, this amazing abode has a sit-out, dining area, kitchen with a work area and four bedrooms.

The interiors are simple yet elegantly furnished. The entrance door opens to the chic formal living area. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor. The furnishing done in plywood with veneer finish is truly eye-catching. The custom-made furniture pieces perfectly complement the general theme of the house.

The living area and the stairway on the opposite side are separated by a wall that is highlighted with beautiful cladding. The stairway has hand railings only on one side, attached to the wall. Interestingly, this minimal stairway exudes classy vibes and has been done on an affordable rate too.

Two bedrooms each are arranged on both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have inbuilt wardrobes for storage.

The kitchen is furnished in marine plywood with a veneer finish. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with exquisite Kalinga stone. The counter on one side of the kitchen is topped with glass and has been turned into a quaint breakfast spot.

An impressive library too has been arranged as part of the spacious upper living area. The family is thrilled that they could build the house of their dreams by successfully overcoming the spatial challenges posed by a small plot.
