Anisheshan was determined to rectify the mistakes that he had made two decades ago while building his dream abode at Neyyatinkara in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Those design blunders caused the family many practical difficulties over period of time. So, when the owner decided to revamp his house, he wanted to update his home to suit the modern lifestyle of the family.
The old house had three bedrooms and many walls weren’t erected. The slanting roof and the congested kitchen posed several challenges. Moreover, they wanted bigger bedrooms to make the spaces feel vaster.
The family gave their house a contemporary makeover with chic designer elements replacing the old features. And now, Anisheshan wants his house to look new and graceful for many years to come. So, significant changes have been made on the elevation to add a touch of contemporary elegance. The slanting roof gave way to box-style contemporary elevation. The old house had a car porch, sit-out, formal living area, kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open terrace and balcony.
The bedrooms that didn’t have any particular shape have been redesigned to make them look fabulous. The kids’ room has been made spacious by retaining the bathroom. Meanwhile, the old staircase in the house was completely taken off to be replaced with a modern one that matched the new theme of the house. Besides, a courtyard has been newly added. The wall in the courtyard is highlighted with eye-catching natural cladding. A pooja space too has been arranged close to the beautiful courtyard.
The kitchen was completely redesigned by making it spacious and modern. The walls of the dining area are decorated with attractive wallpapers. Meanwhile, a wall in the master bedroom was torn down to make it spacious; an attached bathroom too has been added here. Storage spaces are arranged in all the bathrooms to make them space-efficient. Moisture wouldn’t ruin the quality of these cabinets as they are made using multi-wood with mica finish.
On the upper floor, a bedroom and a living area have been newly added. All the windows and doors of the old house are replaced with new and sturdy ones. Besides, the teak wood wardrobes in bedrooms have been dabbed with a coat of paint.
The cabinets in the kitchen are done in multi-wood and plywood. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with nano white.
After the renovation the bedrooms became spacious with excellent air circulation. This ‘new’ house looked incredibly beautiful and ensured great comfort and cosy ambience.
