Architects often come up with a million ideas when they design a house for their clients. More than just drawing the plan or designing a feature, they are, in fact, giving shape to the dreams of those who wish to build a home. However, when the architects design a house of their own, they enjoy boundless creative freedom and unleash their aesthetic sensibilities to build their dream abode.

Anoop and Sruthy, both architects, took advantage of the verdant paddy field on the east side of the plot in Chalissery at Palakkad, Kerala while designing their house. The elaborately designed house welcomes the cool breeze and the mesmerizing views from the paddy fields into its spacious interiors. Interestingly, a separate block has been designed in the model of a homestay to turn the house into a profitable source of income in the future. This area, meanwhile, has been designed as a detached space to ensure privacy in the main residential block.

The huge windows placed at the right spots open to the enchanting views outside. Besides, each space in the vast interiors has been designed to appreciate the incredible beauty of the surrounding environment. The swimming pool with stone steps evokes nostalgic memories of the village ponds.

There is a layer of aluminium sheet insulation beneath the GI truss roof. Besides, there is one more layer of ceiling tiles too. So, this three-layered roofing effectively blocks the harsh sun rays, keeping the interiors cool and pleasant. Meanwhile, laterite stones and old bricks have been used to build the structure.

The walls and the ceiling done in unplastered cement finish exude a rustic charm. The unique and vivid materials that have been used inside the house add remarkable textures, hues and designs. The Jaisalmer stone flooring in a soothing yellow shade makes the interiors brighter and lively. Meanwhile, the traditional wooden flooring in the bedrooms looks classy.

The delightful ambience and the tranquil atmosphere in the interiors are what make this house special. The family often gets overwhelmed with pride and joy when their relatives and friends shower praise on their dream dwelling.
