Manarkad: An act of kindness by a group of school children is winning hearts. They made a goat's pen and purchased some goats to help a schoolmate’s family tide over financial problems. The member students of the National Service Scheme unit at St. Mary’s school have been grabbing applause from all corners for supporting their friend, a native of Thiruvanchoor in Kottyam, Kerala.

The child’s father is bedridden following an accident and the mother too suffers from a serious illness. The NSS volunteers bought the goats for the family so that they could earn a living.

The amount to build the goat shed and to purchase the goats was collected by selling the dish cleanser made by the students. Knowing about their kind act, Jeemon, the owner of Velloor Mary Giri Saw Mill donated the timber that was required to build the goat shed. The students had built the goat shed on their own. Besides, they bought a goat and a kid too. The NSS team was led by TR Adithyan, Joel Mathew and Adithyan Binu. Earlier, the students had also donated a wheelchair to the palliative care unit of Manarkad Global Life. They had raised money for the wheelchair by collecting and selling old newspapers.
