Keralite Rajesh Subramaniam has been appointed as as the president and CEO of US-based multinational courier delivery services company FedEx Express.

Rajesh, 52, who was born in Thiruvananthapuram, is currently the executive vice president, chief marketing and communications officer of FedEx Corporation.

He will succeed David Cunningham effective January 1.

Rajesh has been with FedEx for more than 27 years and has held various executive level positions in several of their operating companies and international regions.

Rajesh is responsible for several landmark developments at FedEx, including the first-ever global brand campaign, and a significant expansion of the company’s global product portfolio. His team launched customer-focused, value-added services like FedEx Delivery Manager and FedEx One Rate.

Under his leadership, FedEx also retains an enviable position as one of Fortune magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies.

Rajesh did his schooling at Loyola School in Thiruvananthapuram and received an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He holds two post-graduate degrees in Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Rajesh Subramaniam is the son of former Kerala police chief C Subramaniam.
