New Delhi: The Indian Army on Tuesday denied reports of a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, following reports that Pakistan had opened fire across the border.
“There have been some media and social media reports regarding a ceasefire violation in the Poonch region. It is clarified that there has been no ceasefire violation along the Line of Control,” the Army said in an official statement.
The clarification comes hours after reports suggested that Pakistani forces had resorted to “unprovoked” firing on forward Indian posts in the Mankote sector. However, the Army has refuted those claims.
There has been no official response yet from the Pakistani military, and requests for comment outside regular hours have gone unanswered. India and Pakistan had recommitted to the 2003 ceasefire agreement in May following heightened tensions and cross-border strikes under Operation Sindoor.
