New Delhi: A SpiceJet flight from Kandla to Mumbai landed safely on Friday after losing an outer wheel during take-off, the airline said. The Q400 aircraft continued its journey and landed without incident in Mumbai, where it taxied to the terminal under its own power. All passengers disembarked normally.

“In this case, the outer wheel of a SpiceJet Q400 aircraft operating from Kandla to Mumbai was found on the runway after take-off. The aircraft landed safely in Mumbai,” a spokesperson said.

In another incident on Thursday, a Kathmandu-bound SpiceJet flight faced a suspected tailpipe fire at Delhi airport but returned safely to the bay. Officials confirmed the Boeing 737 8 aircraft was cleared to resume operations after checks.

Meanwhile, the airline reported a net loss of ₹234 crore for Q1 FY26, compared to a profit of ₹158 crore a year earlier, as revenues dropped 34.4 per cent to ₹1,120 crore. The losses were attributed to grounded aircraft and weaker leisure travel demand amid geopolitical tensions.
