Simone Tata, mother of Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata, passed away on Friday following a short period of illness. She was 95. Simone, who was also the stepmother of the late Ratan Tata, had long been connected with both business enterprises and charitable initiatives.
The statement noted, "She will always be remembered for her contribution to the growth of Lakme as India's leading cosmetic brand and laying the foundation for fashion retail with the Westside chain." It added that the Switzerland-born Simone played a significant role in guiding several philanthropic bodies, including the Sir Ratan Tata Institute. The last rites will be held on Saturday with a mass scheduled for 11 am.
