The Indian Embassy in Thailand has advised travellers to stay updated on official Thai announcements amid the tense situation along the Thailand–Cambodia border. Travellers planning to visit areas near the border have been asked to follow updates from Thai authorities, including the TAT Newsroom.
According to Thailand’s latest travel advisory issued on December 10, travel across most of the country remains normal, with security measures tightened only in select border areas near Cambodia. Rail services to Ban Khlong Luek have been suspended, and buses to Kantharalak are currently being diverted through the Karnchang Intersection. Travellers have also been advised to avoid Route 348 in Buri Ram. Major tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Pattaya and Ayutthaya continue to operate normally.
Meanwhile, Thailand and Cambodia held talks on Thursday to reopen a border crossing as their conflict entered a fourth day. Both countries are waiting to hear from former US President Donald Trump, who has said he believes he can help stop the fighting.
Officials said negotiations are underway to reopen the Khlong Luek crossing to allow Thai workers in Poipet to return home. Hundreds of Cambodian workers have also gathered on the Thai side seeking to cross back, but authorities said the route is unlikely to reopen on Thursday.
Clashes were reported at more than a dozen points along the 817-km border on Wednesday, marking some of the most intense fighting since a five-day confrontation in July. In that instance, Trump intervened with phone calls to both leaders, threatening to halt trade talks unless the conflict stopped.
