Kozhikode-bound explosive-laden lorry seized at Kerala-K'taka border

Kalpetta: The Kerala police on Thursday seized an explosive-laden lorry at Muthanga, a village near the Kerala-Karnataka border, in Wayanad. The police found gelatin sticks, saltpetre (potassium nitrate), and a wicks concealed under sacks of onion.

The vehicle, bearing a Karnataka registration, was on its way to Kozhikode from Bengaluru.

The lorry was taken to the Sulthan Bathery police station. District police chief Rajpal Meena reached the spot.

Manorama News had earlier reported that active checking at Check-posts had been suspended after the roll out of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Sources said anti-social elements may use smuggle in contraband, making use of the situation.
