Kochi: The Kerala Police have obtained more evidence of shady financial transactions, including black money and benami deals, actor Dileep had indulged in. The Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department are closely monitoring the moves of one of Dileep’s close relatives staying abroad.
The money acquired through overseas rights in order to release a Malayalam movie abroad is usually given to the actors. Dileep has been accused of utilizing this money to make foreign investments. The probe teams are investigating whether the accused actor has made hawala transactions to evade taxes.
If found guilty, the actor might be slapped with a case under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
The Crime Branch wing which investigates financial crimes has started inspecting the documents received it has received. Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court will decide on Dileep's bail plea Monday. The police have not been able to locate the actor's absconding aide Sunil Raj, aka, Appunni.
Appunni’s anticipatory bail plea too is under consideration of the high court.
The phone records show that the main accused Pulsar Suni’s ex-counsel Pratheesh Chacko and Appunni had contacted over 40 times after the attack on the young actress. In addition to this, Appunni and Pratheesh have met in person at least seven times. In this context it is inevitable for the police to arrest Appuni as soon as possible.
Dileep, arrested on July 10, moved the high court for bail after a magisterial court in Angamaly refused to grant him the relief and sent him to judicial custody till July 25.
Rejecting the bail plea, the magistrate court had said there is a chance of him tampering with the evidence.
Dileep, charged under various sections of the IPC, including the one for hatching criminal conspiracy for abduction and assault on the actress in a moving car on February 17, is currently lodged in a jail in his home town, Aluva.
The police have claimed that the conspiracy to abduct and assault the actress and film the dastardly act was hatched by Dileep and 'Pulsar' Suni, the prime accused in the case.
In their remand application, the police had claimed that Dileep had developed a grudge against the actress for letting his former wife know about his alleged affairs and had hatched a conspiracy to take revenge way back in 2013.
The actress, who has worked in Tamil and Telugu films, was abducted and allegedly molested inside her car for two hours by the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle and later escaped.
