Malappuram: In what looks like the rerun of the medical negligence that claimed the life of Tirunelveli native Murugan, another person from Tamil nadu was denied treatment at two medical colleges in Kerala.
Rajendran, who suffered severe injuries in an attack by a fellow Tamil Nadu native, had to be taken to Coimbatore for treatment after authorities of medical colleges in Thrissur and Kozhikode refused to admit him.
Rajendran was rushed to Thrissur medical college first after he suffered severe injury to his foot. He was hacked by the fellow TN native.
He was not admitted to the hospital, forcing his relatives to travel all the way to Kozhikode with him. However, his request was turned down by the authorities of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital also.
Following this, Murugan was rushed to Coimbatore where he is undergoing treatment.
Last month, Murugan, 30, a native of Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu, died after private hospitals in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram denied treatment for him after he met with an accident.
A committee formed to inquire the incident had found that the hospitals had failed to follow the procedures to be followed when a patient in critical condition seeks treatment. The committee has submitted its report to the health minister and is awaiting action on it.
