Rimi Tomy gives confidential statement in court

The special investigation team probing the case had even earlier questioned Rimi, a close friend of actor Dileep - an accused in the case

Kochi: In the latest development in the February 17 actress attack case, singer-cum-anchor Rimi Tomy has appeared in the Additional First Class Judicial Magistrate Court, Kothamangalam, to give a confidential statement.

The special investigation team probing the sensational crime had even earlier questioned Rimi, a close friend of actor Dileep - an accused in the case.

Dileep was arrested on July 10 for conspiring with a gang of criminals who waylaid the actress on a highway on February 17. It was alleged that Dileep hatched the plot to attack the actress as he believed that the young woman had told his then wife Manju Warrier about his affair with Kavya Madhavan. During a stage show rehearsal in 2013, Dileep had confronted the actress at a hotel on M G Road in Ernakulam. Rimi among other stars had witnessed the ugly spat.

Rimi's financial sources and dealings had also been under the scanner.

The Kerala High Court had Tuesday granted bail to Dileep. The police have claimed that a conspiracy to abduct and assault the actress in a moving car and film the act was hatched by Dileep.
