Abu Dhabi firm sacks Keralite who threatened to kill Pinarayi

Dubai: The Keralite who threatened to kill chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been sacked by the company which had employed him. He will be deported to India soon.

The video containing the threatening message was uploaded on Facebook by Krishnakumar Nair (56), a rig supervisor with an Abu Dhabi-based oil company. He is a native of Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district.

In the video, Nair said that being an RSS worker, he would head to Kerala leaving his job in the Gulf country to kill the chief minister. Nair also showered abuse on the chief minister's family members.

The video was shared on Facebook by several people and sparked a controversy. Nair soon deleted the video, but by that time it had become viral. He soon posted another video in which he apologised for insulting the chief minister and other ministers. He also said that he was still an RSS member.

As he had lost his job, Nair said that he was returning home, where he was prepared to face any legal action.

"I had earlier said that I am not an RSS man. This was because I was afraid of CPM men," he said.

"I realised that I have lost my job when I reached the company this morning. I apologise for everything," Krishnakumar Nair said.

He was later found in Dubai by two other Keralites, Julash Basheer Mathilakom and Jaleel Mangalath. Nair was soon shifted to Abu Dhabi.

Julash said that Nair had been employed in the oil company with a salary of around 8000 dirhams. But he was an alcoholic and showed signs of psychiatric problems also. Nair's wife had left him some years ago.

Meanwhile, the oil company authorities said that they had initiated steps according to the company policies in Nair's case.

In a similar case, a Keralite youth who had posted an insulting message on Nipah patients had also been forced to apologise and terminated from service by his employer in Kuwait.
