Puducherry: The second accused in the brutal murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T P Chandrasekharan has got married while on parole. Kirmani Manoj, a life term prisoner at Viyyur Central Jail, married a woman from Vadakara at the Siddhanthan Kovil in Puducherry in the presence of close relatives.

Chandrasekharan, from Onchiyam village in Kozhikode, whom the CPM dubbed a dissident, was murdered in the street on May 4, 2012. He received 51 ante-mortem injuries, according to the post-mortem report.

Manoj is out on 11 days' parole for the wedding, which was conducted with religious rites. A native of Panthakkal in Mahe, he is also accused of the murder of RSS activist and lawyer Valsaraja Kurup.

Indications are that the wedding was held in the Union Territory in a bid to avoid controversy. Another accused in the Chandrasekharan murder, Muhammad Shafi, got married while on parole last year. The presence of several CPM leaders including M N Shamseer at the wedding had sparked a row.
