Former Indian Space Research Organisation scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was framed in the notorious ISRO espionage scandal, has been awarded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh by the Supreme Court. Narayanan, who has been fighting a long legal battle of 24 years, said he would continue his battle until 'those behind the fabricated case' were jailed.

October 1994: The Kerala Police arrest Maldvian national Mariam Rasheeda in Thiruvananthapuram for 'obtaining drawings of ISRO rocket engines'
November: The police arrest scientist Nambi Narayanan, director of cryogenic project, for 'selling secrets to Pakistan'
November: The police also arrest deputy director D Sasikumaran, Indian representative of Russian space agency K Chandrasekar, labour contactor SK Sharma, Maldvian friend of Mariam Rasheeda - Fauziya Hassan
December: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) takes over the probe
January 1995: Court grants bail to ISRO scientists, businessmen
April 1996: CBI says no evidence to back the charges raised by the Kerala Police and that espionage case is false, The central body files report in chief judcial magisterage
May: While accepting CBIs report, court acquits all accused in the spy case
March 1998: NHRC awards him an interim compensation of Rs 10 lakh
April: Supreme Court directs Kerala government to pay cost of Rs 1 lakh to Narayanan
May: SC quashes the Kerala government move to launch another investigation
1999: Narayanan files a suit for compensation
September 2012: Kerala High Court directs the state government to pay Rs 10 lakh to Narayanan
April 2017: SC begins hearing Narayanan's plea to initiate criminal proceedings against police officers, including Siby Mathews, who allegedly fabricated the case against him
May 2018: Bench headed by CJI Dipak Misra says Narayanan has to be given compensation
September: 3-judge SC bench orders Rs 50 lakh compensation
