The rail traffic from Shoranur to Kozhikode, Thrissur and Palakkad directions have been disrupted.

Shoranur: Two bogies of the Chennai-Mangalore Superfast Mail (12601) derailed near Shoranur Railway Station on Tuesday morning. The rail traffic, which was disrupted on the Thrissur-Shoranur route, was partially restored after a delay of more than three hours. No causalities were reported.

Three trains - 13354 Alappuzha-Dhanbad Express, 12511 Gorakhpur – Trivandrum Rapti Sagar Superfast Express, 17230 Hyderabad – Trivandrum Sabari Express - will travel without entering Shoranur Railway Station. These trains will take the B-lane (Shoranur Bypass) to continue onward journey.

Authorities have informed that the rail traffic would be fully restored within an hour.

The incident took place at 6.40 am. The parcel van and the coach of the train moved off the track just below the railway overbridge while it was entering the Shoranur Railway station from the Palakkad side.

According to reports, the rail traffic from Shoranur to Kozhikode, Thrissur and Palakkad directions have been disrupted. However, the route between Thrissur-Palakkad has not been affected.
