Kochi: The police have decided to set up three teams to make further inquiry into the actor attack case in the event of new twists and turns in the case, including revelations of film director Balachandrakumar. The decision to this effect was taken by a high-level meeting of the police officials chaired by ADGP S Sreejith.
The trial judge had earlier ordered submission of a detailed report by the police before January 20 after completing the reinvestigation.
Apart from legal experts, Crime Branch IG S Philip, SPs KS Sudarshan, MJ Sojan and inquiry officer in the case DySP Baiju K Paulose attended the meeting.
One of the newly-constituted teams would inquire about the allegation of Balachandrakumar that a conspiracy was hatched to make a bid on the life of a member of the police inquiry team and the statement of Pulsar Suni in the letter sent to his mother while being in jail that his life in the jail was not safe.
The second team would investigate the film director's revelation that Dileep knew Pulsar Suni prior to the attack on the actress and both of them had maintained a close relationship.
The third team would probe the allegation that many prosecution witnesses in the case were influenced by the accused to turn hostile in the court.
The high-level meeting also entrusted the top police officers to talk to the State Home Secretary as part of making attempts to persuade advocate VN Anil Kumar, who resigned from the post of the Special Public Prosecutor recently, to take up the assignment again so as to ensure the smooth work of the prosecution at the trial court.
DILEEP MAY BE QUESTIONED
ADGP S Sreejith, who is supervising investigation in the case, said that the police would conduct further inquiry in the case as per the directives given by the High Court. The police would look into new revelations and statements and take up necessary follow-up steps.
Meanwhile, the inquiry team is planning to first take permission from the court in case the statement of the actress is taken again .
The probe team is unanimous in their opinion on the question of questioning Dileep once again. As per the available indications, Dileep may be questioned soon.
