Thrissur: A wild elephant wreaked havoc at a private resort in Kannankuzhi, Athirappilly, in the early hours of Tuesday, damaging two parked cars and a nearby house.
The incident occurred around 3.30 am when the elephant broke through an electric fence near the Chalakudy River and entered the resort premises, smashing the main gate.

One of the vehicles had a driver sleeping inside, who managed to escape unhurt after being alerted by the noise and hiding inside the car. Before moving back into the forest, the elephant also damaged the house of a local resident, Sundaran, located near the resort. Forest officials are monitoring the area.
