Edoor: Thalassery Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany will inaugurate the newly constructed archway and lead the pilgrimage mass at Edoor St. Mary’s Forane Church today at 4.30 PM.The consecration of the archway will also be held during the event.
The celebration will be led by Parish Vicar Fr Thomas Vadakkemuriyil and Assistant Vicar Fr Abhilash Chellangottu, who will serve as co-celebrants. Archbishop Pamplany will also hoist the festival flag for the Saint Alphonsamma feast, which will continue till the 28th of this month.
The construction of the new entry archway is part of the infrastructure development efforts following the church’s official elevation as an Archi Episcopal Marian Pilgrimage Centre on December 6 last year. As part of its new role, the church will now conduct special pilgrimage masses, novenas to the Holy Mother and redemptive blessings every Saturday at 6 PM. A Holy Mass will also be held during these services.
In addition to these new services, the existing Saturday 6 AM Mass and other regular rituals will continue as usual. However, the Saturday evening pilgrimage masses will begin only from August 1, as Holy Mass will be conducted daily at 4.30 p.m. till July 28 in connection with the Feast of Saint Alphonsa.
From July 20 to 28, the daily 4.30 PM services will include Holy Mass, special messages and the novena. Celebrants for the festival rituals include Fr Jinto Moonnanal, Fr Alex Nirappel, Fr Manoj Kochupuraykkal, Fr Joseph Orappamkuzhimattathil, Fr Joseph Kariungalikkattil, Fr Nidhin, Fr Sharon and Thalassery Vicar General Fr Joseph Muttathukunnel.
