Kochi: Youth Congress workers and local residents staged a unique protest on the waterlogged Cherupushpam–Pulikkathara Road in Koottukad by sailing through it in a large brass vessel, drawing attention to the road’s deplorable state in Ward 15 of the Chendamangalam panchayat.
The road has reportedly remained nearly impassable during every monsoon season for years. The protest was inaugurated by Francis Valiyaparambil, president of the Vadakkekkara Block Congress Committee. Youth Congress Mandalam president Sharon Basil presided over the event. Others who spoke included Congress Mandalam president Sreejith Manohar, Youth Congress leader Arjun Baby, and Vadakkekara Block Congress general secretary Shiju Panakkal.
