Vellangallur: A 23-year-old woman was found hanging at her husband’s residence on Tuesday, triggering suspicions of domestic abuse. The deceased Faseela was the wife of Noufal (29), a native of Nedungonam Valiyakath, Karumathra.
Based on a statement from her family alleging that she was a victim of domestic violence, the Irinjalakuda police have taken Noufal and his mother, Ramlath, into custody. Faseela was reportedly two months pregnant, and her family claims the pregnancy was not welcomed by her husband and his family.
Noufal and his mother have been booked under charges of domestic violence and abetment of suicide. They are being questioned by the Irinjalakuda police.
Messages recovered from Faseela’s phone allege that Noufal physically assaulted her by kicking her in the stomach. She had also reportedly complained of harassment by her mother-in-law.
Faseela, originally from Kattparambil, Pathiyassery in Kothaparambu, had been living with her husband in a rented house. She was the daughter of Abdul Rasheed and Sakeena. Her body has been shifted to the Thrissur Medical College Hospital, where a postmortem will be conducted before handing it over to her family. Faseela is survived by her young son, Muhammad Zeyan.
