Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Ministers P Rajeev and R Bindu met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at the Raj Bhavan on Sunday to discuss the ongoing issue over the appointment of vice-chancellors in the state's universities.

The meeting comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent directive to both the state government and the Governor to hold discussions and resolve the dispute surrounding the appointment of permanent VCs. As per protocol, the Governor serves as the Chancellor of universities in Kerala.

Speaking to the media following the meeting, Minister P Rajeev stated that talks between the state government and the Governor had already been initiated before the Supreme Court's intervention.

"The verdict came amidst those discussions. As the verdict came, these discussions got more authenticity. Today's discussion is part of that," he said. Rajeev further added that the dialogue between the Governor and the state government would continue in the coming days.
