Lawyer-filmmaker Sangeeth Louis, co-accused of Minu Muneer, arrested on Balachandra Menon’s complaint

Kochi: The Kochi City Cyber Police have arrested a lawyer-filmmaker, who has been arraigned as an accused in a case registered on a complaint filed by veteran filmmaker Balachandra Menon. Sangeeth Louis (46), a native of Kundara in Kollam, was arrested from Ayanthole in Thrissur, where he has been residing in the early hours of Thursday. 

A history-sheeter, Sangeeth Louis, was arrested and kept in preventive custody in 2023 after being slapped with the Kerala Antisocial Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA).

The police team had earlier arrested small-time actor Minu Muneer, the first accused in the case. Menon approached the police after accusing Minu of making obscene remarks against him with the intention of defaming him in September last year, in the wake of the release of the Hema Committee report, which studied incidents of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry. In his complaint, Menon alleged that the accused tried to extort money from him through blackmail. 

Minu surrendered before the police on June 30 after the Kerala High Court dismissed her anticipatory bail plea. She was released on bail.
