Thiruvananthapuram: Two fishermen died after their boat capsized in the Muthalapozhi river on Monday. The deceased are Michael and Joseph, both natives of Anchuthengu. The incident happened after the boat lost control in rough waves, police said.

There were five people on board at the time of the incident. Three people were rescued and immediately shifted to the hospital, according to an officer at the Anchuthengu police station. One of the rescued is in critical condition, and the others were discharged after receiving primary treatment, the officer added.

The bodies of the two fishermen have been taken to Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Hospital and will be handed over to their families following the autopsy. The police, fire force and locals coordinated the rescue efforts.
