Hoarding near Vadakara railway station in Kozhikode sparks safety concerns

Vadakara: Concerns are mounting over the risk posed by a newly installed advertisement board at the railway station here. The massive structure, erected near the Traffic Police Station on the eastern side, stands dangerously close to an 11 KV power line.

The board’s frame has been fixed on iron poles. Acting on a police alert, the DYSP inspected the site yesterday on the instructions of the District Police Chief. The structure, which carries the name and contract number of an advertising company in Kasargod, is part of a series of new boards being installed at various corners of the station.

At present, this board on the eastern side has no flex displayed on it, but the iron frame remains exposed. If it comes into contact with the high-voltage line, it could lead to a major disaster.

Adding to the concerns, the newly erected boards have also been set up in a manner that blocks the view of the renovated station building.
