Kechery: The Edakkalathoor village here has been buzzing with the vibrant energy of a theatre festival for a week now

The permanent theatre venue, established by the Deshabhimani Arts and Sports Cultural Platform along with the Public Library, has been bringing villagers a fresh lineup of plays each year. Every evening at 7 PM, the Sreeramachandra UP School grounds transform into a stage where popular theatre groups present their productions.

At the cultural gathering held yesterday as part of the event, theatre artist Babu Parassery was honoured with the K S Vijayan Memorial Award, which was presented by K V Abdul Khader. The event also featured speeches by Alangodu Leelakrishnan, Kalamandalam Rajitha Ravi, Raju Kodiyan, Vasan Puthoor, K C Shaju etc.The evening concluded with the staging of Akashathu Oru Kadal by Kollam Anaswara.

 At 7 PM tonight, the Pathanapuram Gandhibhavan Theatre will present the play `Indiayude Gandhi'.
