Guruvayur: A purification ritual (punyaham) will be held at the Guruvayur temple pond on Tuesday, following the controversy surrounding an Instagram reel posted by social media influencer and former Bigg Boss contestant Jasmine Jaffar.

The temple authorities announced that six days' worth of rituals and processions will be repeated, with eighteen pujas and eighteen 'sreevelis' scheduled from Tuesday morning. Darshan will remain restricted till noon tomorrow.

The Guruvayur Devaswom board lodged a police complaint on Friday, stating that the video was recorded in prohibited areas, including the temple pond and nadappura (outer courtyard), in violation of High Court restrictions. In her reel, Jasmine was seen washing her feet in the sacred water. The complaint emphasised that the pond holds religious significance as it is used for rituals such as Aarattu, the ceremonial bathing of the deity. Following the backlash, Jasmine deleted the reels and issued an apology.
