Venjarammoodu: Severe traffic blocks are being witnessed at Venjarammoodu in Thiruvananthapuram district after the authorities failed to implement the decision to divert vehicles along the outer ring road. Travellers who passed through the town on Monday evening also had to wait for a long time to cover the stretch.

The decision to divert vehicles of long-distance travellers on the M C Road along the Ambalammukku – Pirappancode outer ring road to ease the congestion in Venjarammoodu was taken at a meeting presided over by D K Murali, MLA, and attended by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Attingal. However, it is alleged that the authorities took no follow-up measures.

Consequently, Venjarammoodu experienced severe traffic blocks in the morning and after 3 pm on Monday, which caused much difficulties for even ambulances carrying patients to the Medical College Hospital in crossing the town. At the meeting presided over by the MLA, it was decided to deploy police personnel at Ambalammukku and Pirappancode to divert vehicles to the outer ring road.
