Malappuram: The Vengara Police on Wednesday seized unaccounted cash worth ₹1 crore during a vehicle inspection in the region. The rider, Mohammed Muneer from Koduvally, was taken into custody.

Police said the cash was hidden in a sack tied to the front of the scooter and inside its storage compartment. The operation was carried out based on a tip-off received by District Police Chief R Viswanathan and led by Malappuram DySP K M Biju, with support from the District Anti-Narcotics Squad and Vengara police.

According to DySP Biju, the money was brought from Koduvally to be distributed in Vengara. Police have intensified vehicle checks across the district and launched an investigation to identify others involved.
