Kozhikode: An elderly advocate died after jumping into the Mampuzha River from the Mankavu bridge on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Adv Sidharthan (69), a resident of Chalappuram, Kozhikode.
Sidharthan, a notary advocate, had reportedly been suffering from illness for the past few years. According to eyewitnesses, a group of students saw the man jumping into the river around 8.45 am and alerted authorities.
Fire and Rescue personnel from Meenchanda and Vellimadukunnu stations rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. After nearly three hours, the body was recovered a few metres away from the bridge.
